What is Biomass ?

Biomass is the main source of energy in sub-Saharan Africa and accounts for 60-80% of energy balances in most countries. More than 500 million Africans depend on it daily.

Thanks to its agro-industrial power, Côte d'Ivoire has one of the largest biomass deposits in Africa. Its potential is estimated at 12 million tons per year.

Biokala aims at producing bioelectricity by biomass from oil palm wastes.

The Biokala project is based on the recovery of the residues from industrial SIFCA and village palm plantations in an orchard of about 165,000 ha.
