Project: a canteen = 120 meals in my school

In order to offer a balanced meal per day to students from the rural world, the SIFCA Foundation has, since 2016, launched the project "a canteen = 120 meals in my school", whose goal is to build or rehabilitate school canteens in rural area.

In order to sustain the functioning of these canteens, the Foundation installs and trains women's agricultural groups. The latter, formed into cooperatives and trained in basic accounting and agricultural techniques, provide part of their production for the continuous supply of food canteens.

This integrated and sustainable project makes it possible to answer three major issues:

  • Fight against malnutrition in rural schools by offering a rich and varied meal to students throughout the school year (120 working days)
  • Contribute to the improvement of academic success
  • Participate in the empowerment of rural women by creating income-generating activities and encourage their return to vegetable and food crops
